7 Easy Infused Water Recipes

Updated: Apr 2, 2020

We’re all aware that keeping hydrated is crucial for our health and well-being, but many people do not consume enough fluids each day. One of the most common reasons for this is that many of us simply do not like the bland taste of water. The answer? Infuse it!

Here, we show you some easy infused water recipes to make your daily water taste deeelicious.

Is infused water healthy?

Not only will drinking infused water increase your daily water intake, it will also add some of the vitamin content and antioxidants from the fruits you’re using. It’s basically like making your own vitamin water. Here are a few reasons why drinking water is so good for you:

· It improves the condition of our skin, plumping up skin cells which minimises the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, helping you look younger.

· Fatigue, anger, negative mood, and cognitive problems all increase when you're dehydrated – so drinking lots of water helps to improve your overall mood.

· Drinking water helps you work out longer and avoid muscle cramps.

· Water aids digestion. Water and fibre work together to keep you regular and avoid constipation

· And last, but not least, one of the most common overlooked benefits of drinking water is a healthy immune system - and drinking water has been directly related to a stronger immune system.

How to infuse water…

1. Add the fruit and herbs to a pitcher or container, then pour in the water.

2. For a stronger, more intense flavour, muddle or bruise the fruit and herbs using the handle of a spatula before adding to the container.

3. Allow the water to infuse for around 6 to 12 hours (less for citrus fruits – see above).

Recipes

· Strawberry, Lime and Mango Infused Water

· Grapefruit, Orange and Rosemary Infused Water

· Watermelon and Basil Water

· Blackberry Orange & Ginger Infused Water

· Cucumber, Strawberry & Kiwi Water

· Green Tea with Mint and Lime

· Lemon and Thyme Water

Tips for infusing your water…

1. Try to use water that is cold or at room temperature because hot water may break down enzymes and vitamins.

2. Let your infused water set at room temperature for 1-2 hours or refrigerated for about 3-4 hours before drinking it.

3. If you’re adding citrus peel, like lemons and limes they can become bitter after around 5-6 hours so it is important to consider what fruits you’re using.

4. Remember, the longer you leave your fruit in there, the stronger it will become.

Of course, if you're drinking more water, you should invest in a good reusable water jug or pitcher. Here, we have selected our favourites. Click on the image to find out more information:
