Home activities for your children...

Are you stuck at home with your kids and slowly going stir crazy?! We've put together some ideas of what to do at home with your children to keep them occupied. Check it out below:

  • Get Cooking

Cooking is a great way to keep your children entertained. Not only does it result in delicious food to eat, but it helps them to learn a great life skill at the same time. Evidence shows that cooking with children helps to boost their motor skills, increases focus and attention and promotes healthy eating – all hugely beneficial to our little ones. Check out some recipe ideas on the BBC Good Food website.

  • Do a scavenger hunt

Scavenger hunts can be great fun, whether yours takes place inside or outside - all you need is a list of items to find. You can challenge your children with different lists and see who completes the challenge first. You can also make them as long or as short as you want to – incuding items such as family photos, something that smells good, a notepad, something that is green.

  • Make your own playdough

Children love playing with playdough! It’s the perfect indoor activity for when it’s raining or cold and it’s perfect for outdoor play too. All you need to make it is flour, cream of tartar, water, food colouring and salt. Check out a recipe here.

  • Build a Fort

Forts are fantastic, they give children the ability to create their own special places; they are figuring out their nearby world as well as starting to become independent, and they’re so easy to make when you’re stuck at home. Branches and bushes, cushions and blankets, snow, teepees, tents etc. You can make a den or a fort out of absolutely anything; even a simple cardboard box!

  • Put on a play

Why not set up a stage by draping a bed sheet over a bench or turn a chair around so your children can stay hidden and use their favourite stuffed toys to put on a play. Y Your kids will find it hysterical to watch their own shows over and over again, so you can also record it using your phone, providing hours of entertainment.

  • Throw a dance party!

A dance party is a great idea for children who need to burn off lots of energy. Put some tunes on, turn the volume up – and dance to your heart’s content. You and your children can even get all dressed up in your favourite party outfits!

  • Make Slime!

I mean, what child doesn’t like playing with slime?! And now, it’s even easier because you can make your own from the comfort of your own home. Not only is slime lots of fun, but it is also a science experiment to keep the kids busy. You can find out how to make it here.
